THE DUST IS YET TO BE SETTLED

The world in general and Pakistan in particular is passing through a transitory period. Constructive and destructive forces are playing their roles. What is going to happen? It remains to be seen since the dust is yet to be settled. As a matter of fact, we are reaping what we have cultivated in eighties. It took twenty years to ripen the crop. In much the same way, what we are sowing today, we are bound to reap in the days to come. However, we can see the glimpses of future through the movements of moulding hands. During the ongoing decade, our focus remained on education. I hope this policy will bring fruit in two decades. Pakistan is home of talent and genius. In retrospect, sons of Pakistan have dazzled the world with their genius. There is a long list of such people before me. I would like to refer the example of Dr. Abdus Salam who won the Nobel Prize in 1979. Since then no other Pakistani has been awarded Nobel Prize. However, Pakistani people have shown their excellence in different fields of life. The examples of Arifa Karim Randhawa, Ammar Afzal and Babar Iqbal are lying before us. Each of them set world record in different disciplines of computer science. One can predict a bright future of Pakistan after having glance over the achievements made by trio. Regretted to say, their capabilities will be exploited by others since they find little application of their capabilities at home. We need to build up our infrastructure in such a manner that we may be able to make the most of the potential our people.
